Congratulations.
You've found something.
Like all arts, there are both sublime and subtle technical aspects to Poetry—
but, in its natural state, verse is the highest art of man: a spontaneous ejaculation of
one's inner truth, without contriving or self-consciousness. Out of energized silence
it is born—when purified, it naturally inspires or elevates.
In my opinion, all the best poetry in history were such—zen and Tao-inspired verse
from Tang and Song dynasties of China, 10-12th century Persian poetry (Hafiz, Saadi, Rumi, Ferdausi), and American Transcendental poetry (Emerson, Dickinson, Whitman).
...Even Shakespeare's sonnets were meant to be read as letters to one's 'divine-self,' (Socrates' daemon)—to think they were written for a mistress or gay lover are frankly egregious and perverse modern interpretations.
Most of these verses were written in my mid-late twenties—a more innocent age.
I am too young, I feel, at this time... lacking in wisdom to write true poetry.
I hope I may return to it someday, when I am a stronger and wiser person.
